Principal Investigators
Serena Sohrab, PhD
Dr. Serena Sohrab is an award-winning management researcher and educator. Her work focuses on unraveling the complexities of women's advancement in organizations and society. Her research has appeared in outlets such as Harvard Business Review, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Public Relations Review, and Small Group Research. A passionate advocate of women’s economic independence, she has built on her research to lead several non-profit initiatives focused on women’s advancement in Canada and abroad. Serena is an Associate Professor at Ontario Tech University in Canada. She earned her Ph.D. from the Schulich School of Business in Canada.
Nada Basir, PhD
Dr. Nada Basir is an Associate Professor at the Conrad School of Entrepreneurship and Business at the University of Waterloo, Canada. She holds a BSc in Molecular Biology from the University of Waterloo, a MSc in Biotechnology with a Business Specialization from McGill University, and a PhD in Strategic Management from the Schulich School of Business at York University. Dr. Basir's research interests lie at the intersection of strategy, organization behaviour and entrepreneurship. Her work explores how organizations and institutions effect entrepreneurship and innovation, focusing on gender, emotions, and identity. Dr. Basir teaches courses in Entrepreneurial Strategy, Organization Design, and Social Entrepreneurship.

Hope Pembe, MBET
Hope Pembe is a research assistant at the Infertility and Work Lab. She holds a BA in Global Business and Digital Arts from the University of Waterloo and is currently pursuing her Master's in Business, Entrepreneurship, and Technology. Hope aims to leverage her research and creative problem-solving skills to enhance workplace support for employees facing infertility challenges.
Ee Hwee Lau, PhD
Ee Hwee is a PhD student in Organisational Behaviour at London Business School. Her research focuses on mindsets, prestige, and decision-making during employee recruitment. In particular, one project she is currently working on examines how mindsets about ability shape organizations’ use of institutional prestige as an exclusion factor to gatekeep certain individuals over others, despite all individuals being equally qualified.
Jennifer Calver, RPN, MHSc, GPNC(C)
Jen Calver is a Registered Practical Nurse with a background of experience in clinical practice, education and research. She holds a Bachelor of Allied Health Sciences (BAHSc) honours degree and has recently completed her Masters of Health Science focus in Community, Public and Population Health at Ontario Tech University. Jen has a special interest in aging, policy and health services research.
Karen Liu, BSc, COMT
Karen Liu is an Ontario Tech University research assistant that has worked in the healthcare sector for over seven years. She holds a BSc in Science, a BSc in Ophthalmic Medical Technology and is currently completing her Masters in Health Sciences with a specialization in public health. She has both clinical and statistical experience within healthcare. Karen hopes to incorporate her creativity and analytical skills with the Infertility and Work Lab.
Simran Duggal, MBET
Simran Duggal is a software sales professional and has spent over five years in the technology ecosystem in Canada. She holds a BSSc in Sociology and Economics and a Masters in Business Entrepreneurship and Technology. She has an acute practical knowledge of Diversity, Inclusion and Equity from a corporate perspective and is interested in creating environments that drive increased diversity to breed innovation.
